I had never heard of Dream Manager until I met with Danny Silk to talk about a possible internship at Bethel Church in April of 2009. This conversation is captured by Danny in the foreword to our book (Dream Culture Chptr 1). Danny asked me what my dream was and what I had been doing for the last 10 years. I answered that I had been working in business, agriculture, international community development and church leadership roles… but within each role helping people discover purpose and resourcing them from whatever means I could find to help them get there. To this Danny responded “Wow, have you read Dream Manager by Matthew Kelly?” My answer was “No.” A week later both Janine and I had devoured the book and said to each other “this is me!”
So what is the message of Dream Manager? You can download an excerpt here: The Dream Manager
Dream Manager is an easy-to-read business parable about how companies can achieve remarkable results by helping their employees fulfill their dreams. The message goes way beyond a company and has the same impact in relationships, schools, churches and beyond. What about government and the dream for a nation?
Beginning with his important thought that a company can only become the-best-version-of-itself to the extent that its employees are becoming better-versions-of-themselves, Matthew Kelly explores the connection between the dreams we are chasing personally and the way we all engage at work. Tackling head-on the growing problem of employee disengagement, Kelly explores the dynamic collaboration that is unleashed when people work together to achieve company objectives and personal dreams.
The power of The Dream Manager is that simply becoming aware of the concept will change the way you manage and relate to people instantly and forever. What is your dream?
We give the book a 5 star rating and everyone we have heard that has read it has inhaled it. Enjoy!
